When we
realize our insignificance in this world,
it some how relieves the
pressures from society to succeed -

Dreamin’ my Dreams
Epic Nashville
I like country music
for one reason. The shit is sad and someone usually just lost their wife
or girlfriend or the whole place just went to hell. Stereotype it anyway
you want, but add some good lyrics to a steel guitar, followed by a
banjo and a fiddle, throw in an organ and hand me a cold beer, I just
found heaven!
I like fast country
music too, but I love the slow sappy stuff...there’s a tear in my beer
stuff. I cant get enough of it, Cindy thinks I’m a crazy, manic
depressant but I love the stuff, the deeper and sadder the better.
When you think of Patty Loveless, you think of good country music. Not
the smoking hot little girls that are trying to woo the audiences of the
pop/country scene these days. When you think of Ms. Loveless, you
think more of that big sister feel with that amazing voice that
serenades you to sleep. Her new disc, Dreamin’ my Dreams,
promises to be one of her best yet.
There are a few fast songs on it like “Never Ending Song of Love”
but she has Dwight Yoakam singing by her side so you can’t complain. “Same
Kind of Crazy”, another fast one on the disc was written by Delbert
McClinton and Gary Nicholson and when sung by Loveless, she makes fast
country seem fun.
Delbert McClinton is
one of the best song writers/singers that has walked this earth, it
would be hard for him to sing a bad song, so having him write some music
for her should have been an honor.
The song “My Old Friend the Blues” written by Steve Earle is by
far one of the best songs I’ve heard in a while. Something about the
sound of the mandolin gets me every time. Paired with Loveless’ voice,
the song brings you to another place, and believe me it’s a good place.
Go grab your self a case of beer, throw it in the ice chest and sit
yourself down for some good ol’ country music with this new disc.
Patty Loveless has put me in that place I like to be with this disc.
