Bonish Photography
We should all know my love of photography at this point. My brain does not know how to look at things and just accept them for what they are…it is always looking at everything around me and constantly throwing ideas around like……
“What would that look like in Black & White?”
“What if you shot this with a long exposure?”
“What if you backlit this?”
“Are you going to look stupid if you ask that girl if she’d like to model for you?”
“Is Cindy going to want to rip my head off because this is a totally romantic night on the boat and all I’m thinking about is taking a photo of her right now?”
I DO NOT know how to shut this off. If I knew how, I would….Believe Me! It is not always fun to look at everything as a photograph, but I have been this way since I was a young child, so at this point I’ve somewhat accepted it. I do not usually solicit models and rarely do I just ask one to model for me. If I meet someone and we get to talking, then I do mention that I like to take photos, and that can lead to a photo shoot, but most of my subjects contact me and ask me to photograph them.
As you can probably tell if you’ve read my blog posts over the past few years, browsed through my Instagram images or we’re friends on Facebook, it helps that I have a beautiful wife that rarely complains about how many photos I take of her. If it was up to me, we’d do a photoshoot daily, but she is not as into being in front of the camera as I am being behind it. What’s even more amazing is that when I ask her to do certain things, like Underwater Photography which she’s not all that into, she’ll suggest I find a different model.
So even though I don’t update my blog as much as I’d like to, it does not mean I’m not out shooting on a weekly basis. Until we hit the road fulltime again, I’ll probably never go back to daily updates on this blog. Believe me, travel and the wanderlust it brings is probably the only other thing that keeps my mind occupied behind provocative thoughts of Cindy and looking at everything as a photograph, so don’t think for a second that I’m not wanting to be back out on the road…the cards are just keeping us here in Cedar Key for the time being.
Since they don’t fit in a blog post of their own, here are some things I’ve shot in the past few months that I thought would be fun to share.
